Electronic Australian ETA (Visitor)

If you are a passport holder for one of the eligible countries below, you can apply for an ETA visa. An ETA visa is designed for people who want to visit Australia for holidays, tourism, recreation or for informal study. An ETA visa will be valid for visits to Australia of up to 3 months at a time, and the ETA visa itself will be valid for up to 12 months from the date it’s issued, or for the life of the passport if the passport expires less than 12 months from the date the ETA was granted. Visitor/Tourist ETA

  • Tourist Visa
  • Subclass 601
  • Maximum Stay of 3 months
  • Valid for 1 year from date of issue
  • Multiple Entries into Australia allowed
  • Tourist activities only
  • Employment is prohibited

Tourism needs include:

  • Holidays/Vacation
  • Recreation
  • Seeing friends
  • Visiting family




Visitor/Business ETA

  • Business Short-Validity Visa
  • Subclass 601
  • Maximum Stay of 3 months
  • Valid for 1 year from date of issue
  • Multiple Entries into Australia allowed
  • Tourism or Business needs
  • Employment is prohibited

Business needs include:

  • Making general employment enquiries.
  • Negotiating, signing, or reviewing a business contract
  • Participating in conferences
  • Seminars
  • Trade Fairs

Eligibility

You may apply if:

  • Your visit to Australia is either for tourism, visiting friends or relatives, or short-term business needs
  • You are outside of Australia at the time of applying
  • Your nationality is listed in our list of eligible countries

Additionally,

  • You must have had no major criminal convictions, in which you served more than 1 year in jail
  • You must be free of tuburculosis at the time of travel into, and within, Australia
  • You must not work while in Australia.
  • Your passport must be valid for 6 months from the day you enter Australia
